Job Description:
The Attorney General’s Office is recruiting for a permanent full time Maintenance Mechanic 2 in the Facilities Division. This position is located in Tumwater, WA. This position is represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE).

The Facilities Division oversees the management of the office’s facility and safety/security needs that include 16 leased buildings statewide. The division manages the agency’s vehicle fleet consisting of 113 vehicles, the agency’s Commute Trip Reduction (CTR) program, agency leases, facilities-driven contracts (including alarm systems and monitoring services), space allocations, and provides support for office design. They are also responsible for providing ergonomics assessments and adjustments, office moves and rearrangements and managing the surplus/reuse center for the agency.

The Facilities team focuses on providing the highest level of customer service possible while working in an efficient manner and while being good stewards of the state’s resources.

What does a Maintenance Mechanic 2 do?
This position contributes to and supports the AGO’s mission to provide the highest quality of excellence, ethics and effectiveness by providing multifaceted support and quality customer service in a timely, responsive and courteous manner to Agency staff. Our maintenance mechanics provide support to all of our 16 locations statewide by assisting with office moves, furniture reconfigurations, and space design.

Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Perform agency office moves, working with both modular and traditional furniture. This involves repairing, reconfiguring and modifying work surfaces and panel systems including those with electrical wiring inside.
- Working from blueprints, CAD drawings, as well as oral and other forms of written instructions, sets up offices and furniture to accomplish needed moves and reconfigurations.
- Perform workstation ergonomic adjustments, office accessory installations and minor office repairs; i.e. replace chair cylinders, align/repair cabinet drawers, install/replace locks and replace/repair workstation light fixtures.
- Dismantle, move and reinstall/setup computers and monitors for agency personnel.
- Install and repair building fixtures, i.e. electronic white boards, video equipment, projectors and screens, televisions, pictures, mirrors, towel/soap dispensers and clocks.
- Operates hand and power tools to accomplish tasks.

High School graduation and four years of experience in building maintenance, construction or repair work.

Conditions of employment:
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive a van and a medium duty truck (GVW 25,000).
- Ability to safely operate electric forklift and pallet jack.
- Be able to lift 50-60 pounds

A background check consisting of employment history, professional references and educational verification (e.g., degree, license, or official transcript) may be conducted. Prior to any offer, the applicant selected will be required to submit to and pass a fingerprint-based criminal background check conducted by the Washington State Patrol, Criminal Records Division. The incumbent will submit to additional background checks as a condition of employment every five (5) years thereafter.
