Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced data analysis professional. As a Data Consultant 3, you'll program the queries for data sets, write reports, and coordinate complex quality improvement projects. You'll develop techniques and methods such as experimental design approaches, data mining, and data processing algorithms, as well as complex statistical procedures and reasoning which are used in the production of projects and analyses of research data.

Some of what you'll do

Work with stakeholders to develop and ensure metrics are in place to effectively measure the impact and outcomes of performance improvement projects
Provide expert consultation and recommendations to stakeholders to ensure that data collection efforts result in valid, relevant data, and provide actionable reporting
Solve client analytic problems and explain the results and methodologies used
Lead complex research projects involving data collection, algorithms, data manipulation, analytical modeling, data warehousing, and reporting systems
Design forms and survey instruments to collect raw data, prepare data files, and construct data sets for analysis and future study
Monitor, assess, and complete data requests submitted by hospital staff and external partners
Elicit customers' business needs, identify data requirements and available resources, assess the feasibility of the request, and identify appropriate data elements and data limitations. Determine and deliver the resulting data product in a format appropriate to customer needs
Gather and extract data from hospital databases for analysis by writing database queries and views. Write database queries and scripts to manipulate, restructure, and combine data

Who should apply
Those with a bachelor’s degree, including college-level course work in statistics and mathematics
Two years of work experience as a Data Consultant 2 or equivalent.
(Graduate training in a related discipline may be substituted for up to one year of experience.)
Equivalent education/experience

Two years’ work experience is desired in each of the following. This experience may have been obtained concurrently:
Ability to analyze and verify quality performance metrics.
Knowledge of research methodology (including survey development, analysis, and summary), statistical theory, and techniques.
Ability to identify and obtain appropriate data, interpret data, and analyze complex data.
Excellent communication skills, both in written and oral form.
Ability to lead the coordination of statistical projects.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Proficiency with statistical software and/or database management tools and languages such as SQL, SPSS, and R.
Experience with data visualization software such as Tableau.
Experience with writing data reports and presenting data to various audiences.
Ability to learn, master, and teach new technologies.
