WSDOT is currently seeking a motivated telecommunications support professional to fill a Senior Specialist vacancy located in Union Gap, WA. In this role, you will provide technical expertise, management, and strategic leadership to ensure the continuous modernization and operational resilience for all the agency's telecommunications services. The successful incumbent will serve as the solutions architect and subject matter expert for all WSDOT small to mid-level Telephony Advisory Group (TAG), phone systems statewide by providing design, installation, programming, technical support, and training. The ideal candidate for this position is an individual who has mastered the ability to translate technology options into business terms and can interact with management to create solutions for mission critical business problems related to network infrastructure.

What to Expect
South-Central Region Information Technology (SCR IT) functions as the central support group for all technology related
equipment and issues for the nearly 650 employees spread at 27 sites throughout the nine counties of the South-Central
Region. Therefore, this position may require frequent overnight travel to various sites throughout WSDOT and occasional travel to other states for education and participation in a variety of technical conferences directly pertaining to supported technology.

Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Senior Specialist will:
- Advise TAG on systems and serve as standing member.
- Perform all business analysis functions necessary to acquire and implement technical solutions for customers.
- Provide and architect solutions related to unified communications products for all WSDOT small to mid-size PBX phone system users to provide flexibility and options to employees working remotely.
- Determine new unified communications applications such as Avaya Mobile Twinning (extension-to-cellular), Avaya Communicator (IP Softphone), and mobile voicemail access and voicemail integration with email.
- Secure funding for necessary phone system software upgrades.
- Implement design for Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS), Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS), and integrate WSDOT phone systems with the Cloud to achieve unified communications programs statewide.
- Serve all of SCR customers’ telecommunication needs, such as voicemail, as well as VoIP, teleworker VoIP software, extension to cellular (Avaya Mobile Twinning), as well as all on premise phones.
- Perform telework and remote worker system design and integration, which includes installing phone applications on user PCs, laptops, tablets, and mobile devices, supporting Windows, Android, and iOS.

To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science, or equivalent training and experience, in a closely related field.
Seven (7) years of progressive, full-time telephony work in the configuration, management and troubleshooting of Avaya Definity/Aura Systems.
Five (5) years of experience configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Avaya and associated VoIP four/five-digit dial PBX systems at multiple locations, and the ability to provide management and analysis of these systems.
Five (5) of experience providing expert level technical consulting and performing systems administration of multiple small and midlevel telephony systems.
Experience in effectively communicating with and assisting a diverse set of customers and business stakeholders.
A valid driver’s license.

It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
Three (3) years of experience designing and engineering PBX phone system solutions, with expertise in four and five digit dialing with PBX phone systems.
