Job Description:
WSDOT is currently seeking a Sheet Metal Apprentice to perform sheet metal work, welding, rigging and ventilation system maintenance in accordance with state and US Coast Guard requirements.

What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, you/the Sheet Metal Apprentice will:
- Fabricate, Install and repair ¼” and smaller gauge sheet metal on vessels, docks and terminal buildings as needed.
- Perform general repair, fabrication, and welding in shop.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabrications, assembly, and installation of sheet metal products.
- Inspect, clean, and maintain vessel and terminal ventilation system ductwork.
- Removal and reinstallation of interferences in support of shipboard equipment repair.
- Respond to equipment failures around the clock.
- Must attend 5 weeks of school per year

To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
Must enroll in an approved apprenticeship program with Sheet Metal Workers Local 66.
Be able to work safely.
Possess a High School diploma or GED.
Maintain dependable attendance.
Be able to maintain positive interactions with others.
Willingness to accept instruction and apply newly gained skills.
