WSDOT ITD Field Services team is currently seeking a Field Services Technician in Vancouver, WA to support the Olympic and Southwest Regions. The Olympic & Southwest Region Information Technology (OSWR IT) team provides: consultation, analysis, planning, design, development, testing, configuration, implementation, operation, administration, maintenance, troubleshooting and asset management (from procurement through end-of-life disposal) for servers, virtual environments, network infrastructure (firewalls, routers, switches and wireless access points), telecommunications systems (inside-plant horizontal cabling, PBX and IP-based telephony), software, reproduction (print/scan), operating systems, workstations and mobile devices. As an entry level customer support technician, the incumbent will be responsible for configuring, installing, monitoring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting WSDOT workstation, peripheral, and mobile devices and associated operating systems and software. They will also be responsible for the researching, purchasing, receiving, storing, disposition, issuing, inventory, tracking, auditing, and surplus activities of all information technology products for both Olympic and Southwest Regions. The incumbent will deploy workstations, mobile devices, peripherals, and software to end-users while ensuring software licensing compliance, perform inventory audits, generate reports on both inventory and license compliance to peers, supervisor, and IT management.
What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Field Services Technician will:
- Install, maintain, and resolve hardware and software problems by replacing components, using specialized technical tools, and test equipment to diagnose and resolve problems.
- Use standard agency imaging solution, images workstations, installs approved software, and configures for customer use.
- Install and reload software or reconfigures systems where required, either by remote access or by site visit to the customer.
- Manage and maintain operating systems and computer resources to ensure compliance with current standards.
- Provide training, advice, and guidance to technical and non-technical users in the use of software, hardware, and peripheral devices.
- Preform IT procurement for hardware, software, goods, and services; manages IT product and asset records by entering, tracking, auditing, updating, and reporting using agency service management software.
- Independently deploy workstations, mobile devices, peripherals, and software to end-users.
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
Associate degree or higher
Three (3) years of paid, progressive, professional, fulltime, and recent work experience in an information technology support role with focus on workstation hardware and software/operating systems.
Experience effectively communicating and providing assistance to diverse customers with varying technology aptitudes.
Experience providing technical consulting and performing installation of IT hardware and software.
Experience supporting Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and standard Adobe products.
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
Bachelor’s Degree in information technology or relevant discipline
COMP TIA A+ certification
Microsoft Certifications (applications and operating systems)

In addition to the salary range listed, a general wage increase of 3.25% will be applied for all state employees on July 1, 2022.
