WSDOT is currently seeking to fill a Highway Maintenance Worker 2 in Union Gap, WA. This journey-level position is part of the Tri-Region Raised/Recessed Pavement Marking Crew. Performing skilled inspections, maintenance, and repairs of WSDOT Eastern Washington Raised Recessed Pavement Markers (RRPMs). This position performs a variety of skilled maintenance tasks and operates various highway equipment and tools, including the South-Central Region button truck, grinder, and traffic control vehicles, to ensure the safe and efficient movement of people and commerce. During the winter months, this position performs snow and ice removal operations at a local maintenance area, or the region complex.
What to Expect
This position works a 4/10 schedule, with opportunity for overtime. Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, you will:
- Operate button truck, RRPM installer and grinder.
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of equipment and components.
- Transfer and load of materials.
- Assist lead technician with maintaining daily work schedule.
- Coordinate materials, equipment, and personnel daily for RRPM operations.
- Train employees.
- Perform snow and ice removal operations.
- Replace and repair guardrail, clean culverts, and ditches, replace and repair signs and guideposts.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on RRPM equipment.
- Assist with emergency pavement marking applications.
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
One (1) year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Worker 1 OR two (2) years of highway maintenance, logging, farming, excavation, heavy equipment experience or equivalent.
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A without air brakes restriction and N endorsement.
Ability to travel Eastern Washington regions staying out of town during the work week.
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
Operate recessed raised pavement marking equipment.
Follow traffic control plans and place signing, cones, barricades, and other traffic control equipment, and flag traffic within the work zone.
In additional to the salary range listed, a general wage increase of 3.25% will be applied for all state employees on July 1, 2022.
