Job Description:
This Maintenance Mechanic 3 position is responsible for maintaining buildings and grounds throughout the state.

Duties
Primary Duties:
- Completes repairs on buildings and properties such as correcting HVAC issues, furniture, cabinetry, plumbing/irrigation, electrical, security, fencing, parking lot sealing and striping, curbing, and excavations.
- Completes assigned work orders and keeps track of time and materials associated with these repairs.
- Monitors repairs to building systems.
- Provides feedback to supervisors to establish needed repairs.
- Orders supplies and parts for inventory, replacement and new installations.
- Ensures that all work is performed safely and in accordance with all local codes.
- Maintains clean and safe work areas.
- Keeps project schedules on track.
- Performs basic carpentry skills including layout framing, concrete form work.
- Reads, understands and applies working drawings and blueprints.
- Uses basic hand and power tools safely, effectively and efficiently.
- Maintains clean and safe work areas in the shop.
- Ensures that all work is performed safely and in accordance with all local codes.
- Prepares work orders, documents invoices; maintain parts accountability, forms and records and assists with parts and equipment inventory.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must possess a valid, unrestricted Washington State Driver's License.
- Willing and able to travel statewide weekly for 80-90% of jobs.
- Must possess basic carpentry skills including layout framing, concrete form work.
- Must be able to read, understand and apply working drawings and blueprints.
- Must be able to use basic hand and power tools safely, effectively and efficiently.
- Must be proficient at one additional trade to provide maintenance on buildings and grounds throughout the state. This would include HVAC, furniture, cabinetry, plumbing, irrigation, electrical, security, welding, fencing, parking lot sealing and striping, curbing, excavations, or other industry trades.
- Must possess basic computer skills for sending email, completing time and travel documentation, documenting and closing work orders.
- Must possess excellent customer service skills.
- Must be able to lift 75 pounds repeatedly.
- Must be able to climb a ladder.
- Must be able to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Must be self-motivated and able to direct and communicate with others to achieve necessary work assignments.

Desired Qualifications:
Commercial painting experience to include interior/exterior, finish work, drywall, tape and texture.
Locksmith experience to include pinning IC cores, key cutting, mortise and cylindrical lockset installation and repair.
Security CCTV camera and intrusion alarm system installation and maintenance experience.
Experience or understanding of how to operate heavy construction equipment and machinery to include lifts, cranes, backhoes, and excavators.

Selection Process:
The candidate evaluation and selection process will include a preliminary screening of application materials for qualifications, clarity and completeness. The applicants who meet or exceed the required qualifications and possess the most competitive background in directly related experience, knowledge, and training may be invited for interviews and testing by one or more panels.

Polygraph & Background Investigation:
Prior to hire, a polygraph examination and background investigation including criminal record history will be conducted.

The Washington State Patrol has strict standards relating, but not limited to, personal and employment characteristics, arrests, convictions, and illegal drug usage, etc. During the polygraph examination, candidates are required to sign an assessment sheet and participate in an oral interview process to verify responses to the Personal History and Background Questionnaire and a Pre-Employment Interview. Untruthful or misleading answers or omissions will be cause for rejection of potential employment.

Transcripts:
Education verification is part of the selection process. If selected as a top candidate, all position required or applicant specified education must be verified. If a High School diploma or equivalent is required but the applicant indicates a degree has been earned, the accredited degree will be accepted in place of the High School diploma or equivalent.
