Skookum is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude to join our growing team! This role would report directly to our Payable Manager with additional support of a designated Payable Coordinator.

Job Summary:
Perform accounting tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions. Work independently to prepare all supplier invoices and expense reports for 6-8 Main Contracts including getting approval, coding, data entry, maintaining purchase order trackers, and processing for payment. Support team members as needed to complete work activities on time.

Responsibilities for Accounts Payable:
- Receive, process, and reconcile a wide variety of accounting documents such as invoices, employee reimbursements, credit card expenses, vendor statements, petty cash, and bank statements.
- Prioritize invoices according to cash discount potential and payment terms.
- Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
- Record sales taxes by calculating requirements on Supplier invoices at entry point.
- Receive, research, and resolve routine internal and external inquiries concerning account status.
- Responsible for all accounting work to ensure accounts payable are processed in an efficient and timely manner.
- Review and update all accounts payable data, as well as ensure accuracy in general ledgers prior to payment and month end closing.
- Research and respond to Supplier inquires.
- Validate operational credit card expenses in Fleet Bosse/Maximo.
- Research and prepare variance analysis and explanations in coordination with Financial Advisors.
- Assist with analysis of expenses by Main Contract.
- Assist in month end closing.
- Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
- Assist in maintenance of W-9 and 1099 Supplier records.

Qualifications for Accounts Payable:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting or 4+ years’ experience in accounts payable.
- Proficiency with various software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work with high volume of transactions while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Proven organization skills with ability to set priorities, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Self-starter capable of finding solutions with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and through email with coworkers or outside contacts.
- Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
