Job Description:
The Enterprise Asset and Technical Services Department is seeking an Engineering Technician 2. With Auto CAD drafting as the primary focus, this position performs engineering tasks associated with the location, drafting, design, review, permitting, construction, and inspection of engineering projects. Produce contract drawings for the construction and modification of wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, mechanical piping, electrical, instrumentation, structural, and site civil sheets. Modify existing drawings in AutoCAD and other scanned file formats to produce contract drawings for construction, modification, and field verification of wastewater related facilities.

Essential Functions:

1. Create and edit moderately complex multi-disciplinary design drawings to produce contract drawings for construction and modification of wastewater treatment facilities using AutoCAD software.
2. Using established industry and District standards, create and edit moderately complex multi-disciplinary design drawings as they relate to the following:
3. Site civil drawings related to gravity flow piping, force main piping, yard piping, site grading, site paving, erosion control, and landscaping.
4. Structural drawings related to pump stations, wastewater facilities, and underground structures.
Mechanical drawings related to wastewater process piping, pumps, odor control, HVAC equipment and ductwork, mechanical equipment, and mechanical equipment installation details.
5. Electrical drawings related to site layout, building layout; one-line, equipment block, equipment wiring, VFD wiring, instrumentation wiring, and PLC network diagrams; PLC layout, and process and instrumentation diagrams.
6. Work effectively with engineering, operation, and maintenance staff to support drafting, information, and design needs. Evaluate and recommend solutions on moderately complex drawings that foster effective communication and establish clear construction contract drawings. Conduct research and perform basic engineering calculations for collection system design projects and studies.
7. Organize, create, and verify construction contract as-built drawings of completed projects.
8. Maintain an organized file storage and information retrieval system for all drawing electronic files. Maintain and enhance District CAD standards and file archiving systems.
