WSDOT is currently seeking an organized and motivated Procurement and Supply Specialist 2 in Union Gap, WA. This position assists the Sign Shop Manager by coordinating purchasing of supplies, monitoring inventory levels, and analyzing and interpreting complex purchasing data contained in manuals and reports. This position is responsible and accountable for supply management functions, storage, issue of materials, collection of Work-in-Progress data, managing surplus, handling aluminum sign blanks, vinyl sheeting, and other inventory items for sign fabrication. This position will perform fiscal activities in a variety of work areas such as recordkeeping, payroll, maintenance of fiscal records and ensuring the accuracy of reports. This position is dedicated to performing this challenge, as well as integrating the WSDOT Strategic Plan Goal Areas of Inclusion, Practical Solutions and Workforce Development.
What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, you will:
- Coordinate purchasing of consumable inventory by analyzing and interpreting complex purchasing data contained in manuals and reports.
- Place orders with vendors according to purchasing manual guidelines using authority of state contracts, general authorities or bid quotations, use the purchasing card in transactions verbally, online, and open purchases.
- Receive orders according to purchasing manual and/or consumable inventory manual.
- Monitor, maintain and analyze consumable inventory levels throughout the Sign Shop using Data Mart, Consumable Inventory Computer System and the WSDOT Purchase & Order System, including all transactions concerning the SP and FS accounts (orders, receipts, issues, and inventory vouchers).
- Manage surplus using proper documentation.
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
- High school graduation, or possession of GED certificate.
- Knowledge in Purchasing Management, Business Administration, logistics, inventory and supply management or closely allied field.
- Knowledge and /or experience operating sign fabrication equipment.
- Knowledge and/or experience operating and managing warehouse and equipment.
- Communicate professionally and work with a diverse work group.
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, procurement, logistics, supply management or closely allied field.
An Associate of Arts and Science Degree in Purchasing Management, Business Administration or closely allied field AND two years of full-time purchasing experience.
Two (2) years of experience as a Procurement and Supply Specialist 1.
Full-time experience as a purchasing professional will substitute on a year-for-year basis.
