Working with limited supervision, this position selects and applies standard engineering principles and procedures in the design and development of new product/production process or the modification of existing product/production processes. Supports solutions for engineering problems having an important effect on major company programs and customer’s needs. Supports new product releases by designing and implementing new and/or modifications to tooling, fixtures, and machinery as required. May be assigned to multiple projects simultaneously.
May be assigned project support on projects involving tooling budgets up to $150,000 and potential annual sales of up to $2,500,000.
May coordinate multiple small projects or large projects simultaneously.
Collaborate and coordinate with other WARN functional groups, suppliers and customers.
Identifies root causes of problems; recommends and/or implements corrective measures.
May support activities and projects within the team, between internal teams, and projects in support of customer expectations and new product development.
May contribute to creative product conceptualization and Warn intellectual property.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

May participate in the Warn Industries selection process as necessary.
May be assigned engineering maintenance responsibilities for major product lines.
Hands-on work on shop floor as job requires.

Accountable for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance in assigned area. Responsible for design and operating effectiveness of internal controls, including a self-assessment and report to management.
Accountable for developing and monitoring processes and practices necessary for legal and ethical compliance in assigned area.
Responsible for prompt and regular attendance on-site or remote as appropriate or required.

Required Education and/or Experience:
Experience with embedded system design required.
Experience with motor and/or electronics design in automotive, motorsports, or outdoor markets desired.
Experience with MCAD tools and PCB prototyping desired.
Familiarity with embedded firmware in C- Understanding of assembly language, driver design, debugging methodologies, and other supplementary skills.
Familiarity with embedded hardware design- Understanding of electro-mechanical controllers and switches, microcontrollers, and high-current (low-voltage) power-switching.
Familiarity of Hardware, Firmware, and Electronics Failure Mode Analysis and Test Planning.
Familiarity with bringing up electrical designs including the ability to use test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, bus analyzers, etc.
Familiarity with PCB design and layout including working knowledge of Electronics CAD programs – Altium Designer preferred.
Familiarity working in electrical lab- soldering skills, understanding of static protection, bread-boarding.
Ability to build, effectively problem-solve, and debug prototypes by hand.
Familiarity of electronics analysis tools – SPICE preferred.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook).
Familiarity of analytical modelling tools - MathCad preferred.
Familiarity with electronics manufacturing and Design for Manufacturability/Assembly.
Familiarity with electronics, automotive, and environmental standards.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers and visitors.
Ability to effectively problem-solve.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to facilitate activities necessary to a project’s completion.

Physical and Visual Activities:

Frequently communicate with employees and customers. Must be able to exchange accurate information. Frequently move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, attend meetings, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
May require a combination of sitting, standing, and walking. May require lifting up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Must be able to work in an office environment as well as a shop environment as job duties require. May be exposed to loud operating machinery, cold temperatures, chemicals, and vapors.
Machines, Tools Equipment, Software:
Personal computer, fax machine, copy machine, other office equipment, Microsoft Office, Powerpoint. May minimally operate shop equipment such as electronic instruments, test equipment, and basic hand tools.
