The role reports to the Planning & Fulfillment Manager and is located in Cary, North Carolina.

The ABB Field Service Development program offers a 24-month comprehensive training program, which provides the participant exposure and hands-on experience to a variety of Power Delivery applications (Installation/Commissioning, Maintenance/Repairs, Retrofits) and advanced-level Field Service functions (Power System Studies, Protective Relays, Project Management, Data Center startups). Upon successful completion, the employee will transition to a Field Service Specialist role.

Your responsibilities
The participant will also receive non-technical training in areas such as Environmental, Health & Safety and leadership development. Conduct work activities in compliance with the ABB HSE (Health, Safety and Environment), ABB Way, and Safety Manual & Safety policy
Maintain knowledge of and conduct work activities in compliance with all safety policies
The ABB Field Service Development program provides the participant with ABB factory-based certifications for all Legacy and Active ABB products. Individuals are expected to follow the company trainings, policy and procedures
The ABB Field Service Development program offers a variety of learning opportunities: self-paced computer-based learning, virtual learning via the use of virtual reality technology, classroom-based learning, hands-on simulated practical assessments, and On-the-Job (OJT) training. Individuals are expected to apply their knowledge in the field.
Develop and further expand technical knowledge and expertise, currently recognized industry standards for engineering ability
Be responsible for hands-on execution of projects including Startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, engineering, design and repair of Power Delivery equipment in respective area; Power Delivery includes transformers, switchgear, OCBs, Circuit Breakers, busways, UPS, ATS, PLCs, Relays, Power Management Controls systems and other Power related equipment & controls
Perform administrative functions such as writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, reports to customers, time sheet, and expense sheets on a complete, timely, and thorough basis. This will be under direction of the Coach, Mentor or other senior field engineers
Exercise good judgment in controlling costs and expenditures of company funds. Protect the company's capital investments by properly safeguarding and maintaining that
equipment for which responsible
Make contributions to the continued development and refinement of Installation and Field Service
Follow Engineering Standards and Procedures as they apply to designated specialty or equipment and to conduct work efforts in accordance with the policy
Strive to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction in all transactions and relationships
The final city-based location to be determined near the end of the program, based on resource needs and skillset. Any specific preferences will be considered, but not guaranteed

Your background
Candidates shall have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical, Electrical and Computer, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering or Mechanical from an accredited institution prior to start date of employment at ABB.
Minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
Ability and willingness to travel approximately 70% as required. Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a valid passport and driver's license (or other US government ID cards, as needed). ABB will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Strong Computer skills including Microsoft office suite: Outlook, Excel, and Word
Demonstrated interpersonal & leadership skills
Previous relevant internship or co-op experience within the electrical/power industry
Strong presentation, written and oral communication skills
Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision
Customer service oriented & ability to build strong customer relationships
Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
