Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) was founded as a 501(c) (3) non-profit medical institution in 2005 aimed at increasing access to health care in medically underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest.

The University currently offers the degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Master of Arts in Medical Science enrolling over 550 students annually with plans to develop other programs and/or colleges. Interprofessional education partnerships with other universities adds another 100 students to the population. The campus includes 300 employees with academic programming spread over a five state region.

General Summary:
Performs accounting activities such as processing student accounts receivables, assisting with accounts payables, maintaining student software, and filing 1098-T tax forms. Maintains general ledger and preparation of various accounting reports for month-end closing. Serves as an information manager for office, including scheduling meetings, appointments, organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files.

Essential Job Functions:
· Maintains student and outside sources (military HPSP & other sponsors) accounts receivable, bills tuition, posts fees, post student deposits, and reconciles student account balances in PowerCampus to Great Plains Dynamics accounting software
· Process student financial aid loans and scholarships in PowerCampus software and issues student EFT refunds. Processes student refund EFT batch payments to the bank
· Reconciles and processes student 1098-T Tuition tax forms annually
· May back up and assist with accounts payable in GL coding and processing accounts payable, including researching and reconciling accounts with vendors and annual 1099’s
· May assist with tracking Washington State Use taxes and filing Combined Excise Tax report
· Assists with maintaining the daily cash balance and reviews cash and VISA deposits
· Maintains individual detail and summary spreadsheets in MS Excel
· Assists with processing vendor checks and electronic funds payments
· Searches original documents and supporting files and compiles data to reconcile, balance and update accounting records
· Enters all student deposits in PowerCampus & accounting software. Assists Controller with reconciling bank account balances to general ledger, GL accounts (i.e. bank accounts & all student accounts receivable & clearing accounts etc.)
· Examines accounting documents for completeness, accuracy and adherence to standards and adjusts errors by correcting payments and issuing refund
· Understands accreditation standards and expectations specific to the department and adheres to policies and procedures to meet or exceed such standards
· Conducts self appropriately and consistently in accordance with the philosophy and mission of PNWU
· Other duties as assigned

Requirements
Education:
• Required: High School Diploma or GED
• Preferred: Two years college or equivalent work experience

Experience:
• Two years of related experience required. Additional education may be substituted for years of work experience
