UW Medical Center – Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for a full time (100% FTE, 40 hours per week), day shift CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT to join our Kidney Stone Center. Our Kidney Stone Center was the first comprehensive center for the treatment and prevention of kidney stones in the Puget Sound region. Our multidisciplinary team of urology, nephrology, and nutrition experts provide both preventative care and procedural treatments for patients experiencing acute or recurrent kidney stones. Our clinic treats kidney stones using the latest minimally invasive surgical and nonsurgical procedures, as well as state-of-the-art tools such as holmium lasers and specialized ultrasonic equipment.
The Medical Assistant will work 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday.
The Certified Medical Assistant will support the daily clinic flow at the Northwest Kidney Stone Center. Key responsibilities will include:
Bring patients to exam rooms and document heart rate, blood pressure, height and weight
Obtain patient history, determine patient needs, and prepare patient to see the medical provider
Accurately and thoroughly document the provision of patient care
Answer patient questions and follow through on patient inquiries
Administer medications and injections
Phone in pharmacy refills and oversee prior authorizations
Aid in the scheduling of procedures or tests
Ensure exam rooms are properly stocked with equipment and supplies
Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board; OR equivalent education/experience.
Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation during the probationary period. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment.
Previous experience in an outpatient clinic setting
Familiarity with Epic EMR software
