Job Description:
WSDOT is currently seeking to fill a Non-Perm Maintenance Mechanic 1 position in Union Gap, WA. This position primary objective is to maintain and extend the life of WSDOT facility assets. The ability to follow directions to properly maintain and repair facilities and provide a safe work environment for staff. Provides a service that reflects WSDOT Strategic Plan goal areas of Inclusion, Workforce Development and Practical Solutions.

What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Maintenance Mechanic 1 will:
- Maintain and repair interior and exterior of buildings including roofs, walls, flooring, and ceilings.
- Maintain and repair building utility systems including plumbing, HVAC, domestic water, drainage and electrical.
- Maintain and repair facility site including landscape, paved areas, and sidewalks.
- Remodeling of WSDOT facilities to current City, County and State standards.
- Take part in snow and ice removal around site.
- Encourage and promote safety of him/herself and all employees.
- Plan, schedule, and budget for anticipated work, staffing and equipment to meet variable workload and projects for facility customers.
- Receive and respond to facility improvements requests as approved by MM2 or Facilities manager.

To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid State Driver’s license.
- Experience working with a diverse workforce.
- Ability to follow directions and foster a positive working environment.

It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
- General experience in building, construction and equipment maintenance and repair.
