The PG&E Applied Technology Services (ATS) Instrument Calibration and Repair (IC&R) lab, located in San Ramon, provides quality calibration and repair services for a wide variety of equipment in use throughout PG&E. Our services include measuring and test equipment testing, calibration, and repairs. The unit has 'Primary and Secondary Standards' capabilities in several areas including AC and DC voltage, current, resistance, temperature, pressure, airflow, dimensional, time and frequency. Calibrations performed for nuclear power plants are performed in accordance with federally mandated nuclear and internal Quality Assurance program requirements.
The individual in this position will perform lab and field assignments, maintenance and repairs, and calibrations using a wide variety of instrumentation. The individual will assist in non-conformance investigations and create reports. The majority of the work is procedure driven and will be supervised. This position also requires some fieldwork and travel throughout the PG&E system and may require physically demanding work (lifting and loading equipment).
10% of the time including occasional overnight stays within the PG&E territory
Perform calibrations and minor repairs of various instrumentation used within PG&E. Work includes M&TE set-up, calibration, data acquisition, and evaluation. As the need arises, the person in this position will be expected to assist with other projects which may involve laboratory and/or field testing for various groups at PG&E's Applied Technology Services Department in San Ramon.
Two year degree in: Metrology, electronic technologies, or equivalent training.
2 year’s experience working in a Metrology Lab, or equivalent.
Ability to perform physical work equivalent to lifting 60 pounds approximately 12 times a day.
Valid driver's license
Experience in areas related to Metrology (the science of measurements).
Experience with Digital/Analog instrumentation.
Experience with Dimensional, Vibration, and/or Gas Mass Flow Metrology.
Knowledge of MudCats/MetBench/MOX Metrology Suite (MPS Programming)
Basic understanding of the fundamentals of AC and DC electronics.
Ability to read and interpret M&TE specification
Ability to perform simple uncertainty analysis
Mechanical skills to construct and repair test equipment
Ability to work independently in the lab, field, or at PG&E or customer facilities.
Proven ability to work safely within industrial environments.
Computer proficiency with emphasis on Word, Excel, and Visual Basic or similar.
Strong math skills.
Strong focus on details and ability to follow written procedures closely
