Job Description:
The District is recruiting for a regular, full-time Instrumentation & Controls Technician I/II in the Instrumentation, Controls & Electrical Division of the Operations Department.

The ideal candidate will have several years of recent industrial instrumentation experience in a water/wastewater facility, including experience with gas monitoring instruments, asset management, electrical safety programs, security control systems, fire alarm systems and environmental controls systems. Experience with software programs such as GE iFix, Wonderware, Rockwell Studio 5000, and OPTO Factory Floor and Pac Professional, and experience in maintaining and configuring various software packages such as Win911 for remote alarm notification, Proficy Historian data collection, and GE iFix for trending is desirable. The ideal candidate will also possess recent experience with SCADA and PLC programming software.

Under direct or general supervision, performs a variety of routine to complex duties in support of the Instrumentation, Controls, and Electrical division related to preventative and corrective maintenance, planning, designing, programming, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing of metering, recording, data logging, analytical instrumentation, and control instrumentation, including electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, telemetric, and electro-mechanical systems as found in the water distribution systems, the recycled water treatment plant, the wastewater treatment plant, District buildings, and related facilities; maintains LAVWMA and DERWA equipment; and performs related duties, as assigned.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
The minimum qualifications described on class specifications represent the typical way to obtain the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential duties of the job. Any combination of education, licensing, and/or experience which has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the job satisfactorily may qualify the candidates to be considered for open positions in the class specification.

Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12) grade.

Instrumentation and Controls Technician I:
One (1) year of experience maintaining, installing, troubleshooting, or repairing a wide variety of process instrumentation, control systems or communication systems.

Instrumentation and Controls Technician II:
Two (2) years of increasingly responsible maintaining, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide variety of process instrumentation, control systems and communications systems, similar to an Instrumentation and Controls Technician I, including experience configuring and programming PLCs, SCADA, and telemetry systems and experience with operating system report generation.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Possession and maintenance of a Class C driver's license is required.

Possession of a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiac Care Provider certificate and First Aid certificate is required within one (1) year of employment.

Instrumentation and Controls Technician I:
Possession and maintenance of either a California Water Environment Association Electrical/Instrumentation Grade II certification or an Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society of America (ISA) Certified Control Systems Technician Level I certification is required within two (2) years of appointment.

Instrumentation and Controls Technician II:
Possession and maintenance of either a California Water Environment Association Electrical/Instrumentation Grade II certification or an Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society of America (ISA) Certified Control Systems Technician Level I certification is required upon appointment.
