Summary:
Provides primary IT support to individuals and small work groups. Independently completes a variety of routine technical IT assignments, such as installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and analysis of computer systems, software, hardware, client/server, web-based, and network environments.

Essential Functions and Other Duties:
Preparing equipment orders, installing and configuring hardware and software on work stations including imaging desktops and diagnose and resolve desktop computer malfunction.
Performing routine installation, maintenance, and repairs of computer equipment and peripherals in a networked environment.
Performing preventive maintenance on desktop computers and peripherals.
Providing technical support to users over the phone, electronically, and in person.
Responding promptly to IT request tickets and maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all work performed.
Performing hardware repair on desktop computers and upgrading internal components, such as hard drives, video cards, network cards, CPU, and memory.
Configures computer classrooms and labs for use according to instructional needs and ADA regulations. This entails installing computers, monitors, peripherals, projectors, speakers, and needed wiring.
Maintains IT storage areas labeled, organized, and free of hazardous conditions.
Performing routine analysis, configuration and documentation of telephone systems.
Assists IT professionals in providing hardware and application support for day-to-day operations within an assigned area.
Prepares equipment orders, configures hardware and resolves printer problems.
Assists IT professionals in installing cabling systems and network interface cards, uninterruptible power supply backups and switches.
Uses help desk ticketing systems to track and troubleshoot all user issues, hardware and software configurations, installation procedures, equipment inventory database, spare parts inventory, and software license records.
Uses diagnostic utilities, desktop imaging and configuration manager tools to complete assigned work.
Ensures software meets end user needs. Installs, updates and configures software. Trains end users on basic use of software.
Moves, loans, tracks, adds, changes, programs and installs desktop work stations, tablets, computers, telephones, printers, conference equipment, video equipment, peripherals and/or related software or drivers.
Resolves routine security password issues for local area network, Wi-Fi, client/server, and Internet services.
May assist IT professionals in acquiring, installing, repairing and retiring computer equipment, peripherals and software.
Work closely with department team members to continually improve service delivery and procedures.
Provides technical training to end users.

Non-Essential/Other Functions:
Accountable for keeping personal development up-to-date; adding to skills and knowledge through courses that may be available through the Bates Technical College courses, professional development committees, etc.
Participate actively and collaboratively on committees for college as needed including but not limited to staff recruitment, college councils, etc.

Qualifications -
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED and two years of relevant IT desktop support/help desk experience OR
Associates degree in IT and one year of relevant IT desktop support/help desk experience

Allowable Substitution
If necessary, alternative combinations of education and experience may be evaluated by Human Resources for comparability.

Preferred Qualifications:
Three years of experience in information technology related activities such as Help Desk phone support, testing, installing, maintaining, supporting, and/or averting hardware/software system failures on client applications, hardware and software products, mainframe systems, network infrastructure equipment, or telecommunications software or hardware.
A+, Network+, Server+, Security+, CCNA, or any other IT entry level industry certification
Experience troubleshooting and setting up computer labs and classrooms highly desirable.
Conditions of Employment:
