The Opportunity
The Northwest Region (NWR) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional who has distinct talents in bridge maintenance to serve as the Bridge Maintenance Specialist Lead in Medina, a few minutes outside of central Seattle. This position is responsible for scheduling and leading a crew of Bridge Maintenance Specialist in effort to provide preventative maintenance, general repairs, and preservation of bridge and tunnel structures throughout NWR. What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Bridge Maintenance Specialist Lead will:
- Lead a bridge maintenance crew in inspections and repairs on floating, fixed, moveable bridges, and other structures throughout WSDOT’s Northwest Region.
- Oversees and instruct crew members in the repair of bridge structures using your skills and techniques in such as carpentry, welding and concrete repairs.
- Ensures the safe and proper use of vehicles, work boats, CNC cutting, power tools, welding equipment, hydraulic gear and all other maintenance equipment. Adheres to the use of proper safety gear for self and all crew members.
- Interact with the traveling public in a professional and positive manner.
- Ability to utilize knowledge of rigging for heavy loads and corresponding equipment.
- Design and set up traffic control for road and bridge closures following departmental and MUTCD standards.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two (2) years of journey level experience in bridge maintenance or a related field such as steel fabrication, carpentry, electrician, concrete, millwright, or mechanic.
- Current Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) without endorsement N and without air brake restriction.
- Knowledge and experience in Flagging operations

In addition to:
- Ability to respond to emergency call outs, work different and/or extended shifts on short notice (days, nights and weekends).
- Ability to maneuver and transport up to 50lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Possess intermediate computer skills.
- Willingness to climb stairs and work at heights in excess of 100ft, work in confined spaces, work in all weather conditions, around water and areas with high traffic.

It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
- Four (4) years of journey level experience in bridge maintenance or a related field such as steel fabrication, carpentry, electrician, concrete, millwright, or mechanic.
- Working knowledge of floating bridges
