WSDOT is currently seeking an Environmental GIS Specialist (TPS3) to develop and implement spatial data collection methods and data management processes within the Environmental Services Office (ESO). This position provides support and training to WSDOT environmental specialists regarding the collection, storage, update, and retrieval of environmental spatial data using Geographic Information System (GIS). This position is also responsible for independently conducting complete planning assignments regarding the collection, documentation and use of environmental GIS data mapped by WSDOT. Supports professional level personnel in the use of desktop, web/cloud-based and client-server GIS and GPS tools and services and products developed. Provides input to ESO Program operations, project planning and management activities. Assists in the instruction and support of intern(s) and new staff within the Environmental Information Program. Serves as a sUAS pilot for the Environmental Services Office. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, show the ability to maintain positive relationships with technical and non-technical customers and coworkers, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
