Caltrol is Hiring a Field Service Technician in CA!

Caltrol is looking for a full-time field service technician to join our team. You will provide field repair and shop services for valves, actuators, and general process control instrumentation. Our ideal candidate has strong electrical & actuator knowledge and has a background in power and oil & gas.

Primary Responsibilities: 
Repair valves, actuators and process control instrumentation at customer’s facilities or in the Caltrol shop.
New installation and retrofit of valves, actuators and process control instrumentation at customer’s facilities.
Calibration of field instruments such as level, pressure and temperature transmitters.
Troubleshoot process control equipment, including valves, actuators, field measurement instruments, and final control devices.
Perform valve/actuator diagnostics

Strong mechanical knowledge:
Works well under pressure; sometimes meeting multiple and conflicting deadlines.

3 – 5 years of experience as a field service technician, instrumentation technician, and/or demonstration of general electrical/mechanical competency.
A working knowledge of process control
Strong electrical knowledge including ability to read and understand wiring diagrams – single phase, three phase, AC and DC and ability to troubleshoot electrical problems
Practical working knowledge of in the calibration of field instruments such as level, pressure and temperature transmitters
Strong knowledge of valve actuators including Electric actuators, Pneumatic actuators, and Hydraulic actuators
Work extended hours, including weekends, during outage season
Must be able to work in confined spaces and on elevated platforms; will need to lift 30 lbs
Travel within Caltrol’s territory up to 75% of time.

Ability to evaluate technical data
Ability to read and interpret written work instructions, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
Ability to understand and use electrical test equipment including a.  Multi-meters b.  Current generators
Background in process control instrumentation preferred
