Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is the steward of an integrated, multimodal transportation system that helps to ensure people and goods move safely and efficiently throughout the state. In addition to building, maintaining, and operating the state highway system, WSDOT operates the largest ferry system in the nation, manages the world's longest floating bridge, and recently completed the world's widest tunneling project.
WSDOT Information Technology Division (ITD) provides the technology tools that help offices around the agency do their work effectively. ITD is seeking an experienced application developer to assist with this mission by creating and maintaining web, console and windows applications used by agency personnel. This position also creates and maintains SQL scripts, batch processes and assists in database modelling for supported applications.
What to Expect:
This position is expected to support and develop applications on the Application Development and Support team under Enterprise Applications. This includes the early planning stages and the gathering of business requirements through to implementation and maintenance.
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, this position will:
Create, enhance and maintain multi-platform applications, including responding to production failures and providing technical support for applications.
Work closely with customers to assure that business requirements are being met.
Investigate and recommend solutions to improve business flow and accountability.
Implement and improve application security on all assigned applications.
Provide 24-hour support for Traffic Management Center owned applications.
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
Four years of experience developing applications using both C# and ASP.NET.
Four years of experience with SQL Server and T-SQL.
Knowledge and understanding of Information Technology architecture and standards.
Able to independently perform analysis, design, programming and implementation of system components and functions.
Ability to identify customer issues, isolate application problem and assist in the resolution by coding and/or testing, then verifying proper function.
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
Degree in Information Technology or Programming.
Experience developing with jQuery, Knockout or Bootstrap.
Experience developing ASP.NET MVC applications.
Experience performing database modelling
