Samaritan Healthcare has a full-time Financial Access Specialist (FAS) opportunity for you! The FAS team serves patients and the healthcare revenue cycle by performing pre-service financial screening and clearance of scheduled services, including benefit verification and price estimation. As a FAS, you will bring the ability to interact and deliver compassionate, customer service to meet patient needs while providing education on the hospital and clinic policies for the resolution of financial responsibilities and various payment options, including Financial Assistance.
The Financial Access Specialist candidate will bring an understanding of insurance plans, including State Medicaid, employer-sponsored plans, Medicare Advantage plans, and Qualified Health Plans offered via the State Exchange. The individuals in this role determine benefit coverage levels and connect patients with alternate assistance resources as needed. The Financial Access Specialist interacts in a customer-focused and compassionate manner to ensure patients’ needs are met, and that they understand the hospital and clinic policies for the resolution of patient financial responsibilities and various payment options, including Financial Assistance. In all encounters with patients and families, the Financial Access Specialist will strive for the highest level of customer service.

This position works closely with Scheduling (Hospital and Clinic), Financial Counselors, Case Management, Admitting staff members and Physician offices to ensure completion of all pre-service financial clearance functions.

Note: Basic Life Support Heartsaver (HS) level to be completed within three (3) months of hire.
This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, variable hours, with availability between 8 am to 6 pm.
Please Note: April 11th through May 10th are time-off blackout dates for training and go-live of our EPIC EMR. Time off will be limited to extenuating circumstances.
High School or better in General Studies or related field.
Associates or better in Health Administration.
One to three years of customer service experience
One to three years of experience working with insurance verification, revenue cycle functions for hospital/physician offices or related area’s preferred
Familiarity with statutes and regulations that can impact financial conversations with patients (e.g., 501(r)
