Elementary Office Assistant - Bilingual Required - Yakima, WA

Job Description:
Directly Responsible To: Building Principal

Minimum Qualifications: 
High School Diploma or GED.  Demonstrate competency as measured through the Bilingual (English/Spanish) Test.  School district secretarial experience preferred.  Desire to be a role model and to interact positively with students.  Skills in operating general offices machines and computer software (such as Word, Excel and Publisher).  Ability to learn bookkeeping procedures.  Ability to work effectively under pressure; work independently with minimal supervision.  Established record of dependability, flexibility, and regular attendance.  Establish and maintain a professional and positive working relationship with students, parents, staff and the general public.  Desire to be a role model for students.  Maintain confidentially.

Primary Function:
Provide basic clerical support to district programs, principal, staff, students and public at building level. Responsible for registration and maintenance of student records using the WESPaC computer system. Assist in answering telephones, greeting of guests, communicating with staff and clients. Assume the responsibility for maintaining student files and student attendance cards information. Assist with ill or injured students and health room duties. Assist with ASB bookkeeping.

Other Functions and Responsibilities: 
Create and maintain a variety of records, forms, documents and files.  Compile, create, and process district, state and federal reports as required.  Respond to inquires from staff, parents, students and public agencies.  Assist other personnel as may be required to ensure an efficient and an effective work environment.


Expectations for Continued Employment: 
Employment is contingent upon passing a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau Investigation fingerprint screening examination and background check.  Maintain consistent presence at assigned worksite and regular work hours.  Comply with all District policies and operational procedures.  Must maintain punctuality and regular attendance.  Complete SafeSchool’s online training in accordance with the Yakima School District.  Obtain a CPR and First Aid Card if needed. Attend job specific trainings as required.
