As a senior-level IT specialist you will function as part of the central support group for all technology related equipment and issues for the nearly 265 employees across four counties throughout the North Central Region. This position will provide professional technical support for all telecommunications systems in the region, and will ensure reliable voice communications for employees, partner agencies, and public customers. This position will perform the following work:
•Use Avaya Public Branch Exchange (PBX) software to make programing changes of user accounts.
•Administer and program voicemail systems.
•Provide PBX phone system support for North Central Region and provide back-up support to Eastern and South Central Regions.
•Purchase, install, maintain, and repair all telephone hardware, including cell phones.
•Engineer, install, and maintain audio/visual solutions for conference rooms throughout the North Central Region.
•Provide end user training in all facets of telephony equipment and software.
•Troubleshoot and repair connectivity issues.
•Design, install, configure, and repair low-voltage premise wiring.
•Serve as a member of the agency Telecommunication Administrators Group, providing technical expertise in the administration of telecommunication services deployed to WSDOT technical customers.
•Monitor, maintain, and support WSDOT workstation and mobile devices.
•Manage ongoing support for region copy, scan, print, and fax equipment.
•Other duties as assigned.
An ideal candidate for this position will have: •At least four (4) years of prior work experience in telecommunications or system administration setting. College education may be substituted for years of experience.
•Experience performing technical consulting and installation of IT hardware and software.
•Experience supporting telecommunications hardware and software such as PBX systems, IP Office systems, desk phones, cell phones, and voicemail.
•Experience effectively communicating and providing assistance to a diverse group of business customers and technical peers.
•A valid driver's license with the ability to travel across the state with possible overnight stays.
•The ability to identify, analyze, and resolve problems.
•The ability to conduct training sessions for customers and support staff.
•Knowledge and support experience of Avaya voice systems is preferred.
