Virginia Mason Memorial is seeking remarkable, customer service focused candidates to join our growing Patient Access team in the Emergency Department. The Emergency Room is a fast pace, high volume and high energy environment where representatives have direct patient contact via interactions at the registration desk as well as bed side in the actual Emergency treatment room. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working around patients in an emergency setting- ranging from minor to major injury and/or illness. With continual and direct patient contact, the Patient Access Representative performs diversified tasks and duties associated with inpatient admissions, emergency and outpatient registrations, cashiering and communication; discusses financial responsibility with patients, maintains accurate patient account information and verifies insurance. The Patient Access Representative admits/registers patients in a timely and efficient manner using multiple methods of communications (bedside, in-person, over the phone, etc.), also obtains all required admission/registration information and ensures an accurate medical record is created. Exceptional customer service is required when interacting with all patients, family members, and members of the health care team.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
Experience: Hospital patient access or billing, medical office receptionist, insurance office experience preferred.
Licenses/Certificates/Registration: CRCS preferred
Level of Business Knowledge/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Medical terminology/Clerical/excellent Customer Service required. Knowledge of Government Programs, insurance billing experience, and healthcare compliance.
