The Washington State Department of Transportation has a great opportunity to join our Maintenance Team at one of our most high profile facilities; the new SR-99 Tunnel. This position functions as the Senior Expert Technician of the mechanical group and is responsible for field supervision of a crew of 7 ensuring the daily work schedules are being carried out and completed. This position will primarily lead and direct work performed on the mechanical and fire life safety equipment of the SR99 Tunnel. This position also coordinates the use of staff and equipment with other crew leaders both internally externally to accomplish their tasks.

This position will perform the following work:
Provides expert level guidance and direction to journey level and lower Maintenance Mechanics and Utility Workers in the maintenance, repair and testing of the mechanical and fire life safety systems in the SR99 Tunnel.
Performs maintenance, testing and repairs on fire suppression systems, ventilation fans, housings, bearings and motors, isolation and balancing dampers, emergency generator, HVAC and building automation systems, diesel engines & pumps for water removal.
Responsible for ensuring facility upkeep and repairs.
Communicates daily with supervisor and other crew leaders, keeping them abreast of work progress and assisting in work schedule preparation.
Utilizes computerized maintenance management system to issue, track and record job accomplishments.
Reads and interprets plans, drawings, and blue prints to ensure documents are kept updated. Works with external partners to perform repair work on equipment.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Valid WA State Driver's License with CDL Class B endorsement or able to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
Two (2) years' experience performing maintenance, repairs, and testing on Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Building Automation Systems (BAS), or Tunnel Fire and Ventilation Systems.
Backflow Assembly Tester certification or ability to obtain one within 12 months of employment.
Ability to work in various weather conditions.
Ability to climb stairs and walk various distances carrying up to 50lbs of tools and materials with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work at heights up to 50 feet performing maintenance repairs.
Five (5) or more years of experience performing maintenance in the field of fire deluge systems, diesel engines, generators, pumps, pipe fitting, or millwright.
