Senior Accountant/Financial Analyst - Yakima, WA

Job Description:
As the Senior Accountant/Financial Analyst you will perform complex accounting functions including but not limited to, oversight of grants and contracts financial reporting, budgeting and billing for the agency’s behavioral health contracts. Ability to research, understand, and apply State and Federal laws, agencies’ requirements, rules and regulations.

Understand all financial-related grant or contract compliance requirements for assigned programs
Meet reporting deadlines, both internal and external
Support program staff as necessary to maintain compliance
Under the direction of the Grants & Contracts Controller and in coordination with program operation managers and the finance team prepare the annual budgets for assigned programs
Prepare interim funding budget proposals for assigned programs
Research reporting and expenditure eligibility requirements for each granting agency as they apply to each grant received
Prepare and maintain monthly and quarterly reports and schedules as required by each funder and/or the CFO
Maintain organized records to include contracts, billing documents and financial records related to assigned programs
Review coding and proper authorization for allowable expenses including program staff credit card statements
Prepare, process and post invoices to receive contract reimbursements
Back up Grant Accountant to prepare, process and post invoices for all other agency programs
Provide estimates and prepares journal entries to record monthly revenues
Prepares various journal entries, including but not limited to, journal entries for account corrections and adjustments
Suggest and implement improvements to relevant processes and procedures
Respond to inquiries from the other employees and various regulatory agencies by phone or in writing
Assist with program level and annual external audits as requested
Travel occasionally to the Wenatchee site to gather information and provide support to program staff
Oversee the reconciliation and reporting of data from the EHR system
Perform other duties as assigned
Additional Duties:

Serve as backup to Payroll Administrator
Process one payroll location for each pay period to ensure processing skills stay current
Assist with the data entry of payroll budget information into the annual budget templates

Education:

Undergraduate degree in Accounting
Experience:

3-5 years of experience in medical/clinical and/or insurance services environment is preferred
Experience in contract billing and preparation of budgets is desirable

Special Skills:

Knowledge and experience with computerized general ledger systems, spreadsheet design, database management and reporting
Advanced knowledge in Excel formulas
Excellent verbal and communication skills
Ability to be self-motivated, adaptable to change, and detail- oriented
Ability to work in a team environment
Willingness to take on new responsibilities
Ability to be self-directed and represent the agency in a professional manner
Must have strong accounting and analytical skills.
Licensure, Registration, Certification:

Agency required minimal acceptable liability limit for privately-owned vehicles is $100,000 Bodily Injury per person, $300,000 Bodily Injury per accident, $100,000 Property damage; combined single limit is acceptable

Being cleared by criminal background check and fingerprinting when required
