Assists in the administration of payroll in correlation with the written policies of Virginia Mason Memorial, statutes enacted by Washington State, and Federal Regulatory Agencies and Contractual agreements with labor organizations.
Accurately processes and prepares payroll direct deposits (and checks when needed) for semi- monthly and biweekly payroll for the Virginia Mason Memorial. This includes, but is not limited to, handling questions or problems, processing supplemental payroll checks, making necessary corrections, processing garnishments, etc. Maintains familiarity with tax preparation and auditing, including quarterly and annual payroll reports. Maintains payroll interfaces to various hospital and outpatient systems and reporting as needed. Complies with organization and accounting policies and standards to assist in successful operations of the department. Inputs data, timekeeping details and personnel information into payroll system to maintain accurate and up-to-date records as needed. Prepares a variety of payroll/personnel related forms, memos, reports, and other correspondence as needed. Analyzes and interprets computer reports, in order to respond to employee payroll problems and discrepancies. Provides information to employees and other departmental staff regarding routine timekeeping and payroll inquires as needed. Handles staff confidence and safeguard payroll transactions by ensuring confidentiality of information. Accurately prepares daily deposit and cash flow spreadsheet for hospital administration.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Associate’s degree in Accounting preferred.
Experience: Two years of payroll experience preferred. Experience with HRIS systems preferred. Ability to use financial software, interfaces and spreadsheets required. Experience with CBA’s preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office required. Credible understanding of State and Federal garnishments, withholding and other payroll deductions required.
