Experience: Minimum one year general nursing experience in an acute care facility is preferred.
Education: Graduate of an accredited LPN program or one year MA experience in a clinic setting preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Critical thinking skills and judgement. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Knowledge of nursing principles and standards of care. Ability to do prior-authorizations for procedures and referrals (preferred) Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Computer skills required. Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Working knowledge of EMRs.
Licenses/Registrations/Certifications: Current WA State LPN or Medical Assistant license. Current BLS.
This position will be in our Cancer Center. The Medical Assistant/LPN is responsible for preparing patients to be seen by clinic providers. Duties include: taking vitals, obtaining brief history, medication review, preparing for exams, collecting pertinent reports and assisting the provider as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as standing or walking for prolonged periods of time; frequent bending, reaching, stooping, crouching and stretching required during the normal course of the day. The employee must exert 10-20 pounds of force constantly to move objects and must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.Requires frequent repetitive hand/wrist motions and finger manipulation. Requires normal/corrected vision and hearing to normal range. The work involves recurring exposure to moderate risks which require special safety and health precautions and the use of Personal Protective Equipment; risks such as exposure to contagious diseases, contaminated bodily fluids, sharp instruments, and other contaminants.
