Instrumentations and Electrical Technician
Position Summary:
This position is unique in that all areas of Instrumentations and Electrical will come into their responsibility. As a non-union environment, duties and responsibilities are not limited to a defined set of standards. Shields employees are expected to maintain a safe, clean, and organized workplace at all times. Each employee should have a working understanding of their role in supporting the Food Safety Management System and the food safety hazards of the job to which they are assigned.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:
Must be able to carry out assigned tasks with very little direct supervision.
Works with engineers to install new equipment and modify existing equipment.
Have a working knowledge of PLCs and AC Variable Frequency Drives and servo control systems.
Must be able to competently use all related electrical tools, meters, etc. without direction or explanation.
I&E Technicians must have completed training in safe electrical practices, and competently know the applicable state and federal wiring codes.
I&E Technicians must be willing to attend continuing training as needed or required to maintain their certifications.
I&E Technicians must be able to propose new ideas and creatively solve problems with the use of leading edge technology and electrical techniques.
Must be able to read wiring schematics, diagrams, and electrical blueprints.
Must assist other maintenance personnel as needed to diagnose and correct machinery complications.

Candidate Requirements:
High School Graduate or GED required.
2 year technical degree required.
Mechanical skills background a plus.
Demonstrated Electrical skills and experience with wiring.
Diagramming, troubleshooting and maintaining codes and safety regulations.
Must be able to read wiring schematics, diagrams, and electrical blueprints.
