The Opportunity:
Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Ferries Division has an immediate need for an experienced IT professional to fill the vacancy of Server Support Technician in Seattle, WA. This position is tasked with providing technical support, creating technical documentation, establishing standard operating procedures, and cross-training team members. This is a great opportunity for someone that has technical expertise in server operating system management, active directory administration, VMware administration, Hewlett Packard BladeSystem and Virtual Connect technology, storage area networks, backup and recovery, and system and application monitoring.

Note: This is an in-training position that offers a career path and on-the-job training. This position allows you to progress through the Information Technology Specialist field, and achieve the goal class of an Information Technology Specialist 5. Candidates will be considered as an Information Technology Specialist 3, 4 or 5, depending on their qualifications. The salary levels for each are:

Information Technology Specialist 3: $54,924 - $73,908 annually
Information Technology Specialist 4: $60,636 - $81,516 annually
Information Technology Specialist 5: $66,888 - $90,000 annually

This position will perform the following work:
Responsible for the administration, installation, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of all Ferries Division systems, server applications, and datacenter facilities; including terminal and vessel installations.
Advise customers, managers, and other IT Division staff on matters relevant to the utilization and reliability of services in their area of expertise.
Provides consulting on system design, installation, troubleshooting, new component testing and product recommendations.
Manages asset maintenance agreements and equipment lifecycle replacement planning.
Plans and coordinates implementation and maintenance activities with management, stakeholders and in compliance with established procedures.
Develop and maintain system documentation in designated specialties area. Provide knowledge transfer, training, and mentorship in designated areas of responsibility.

The requirements for this position are:
4 years of experience supporting the operation of an enterprise-level server infrastructure including Windows Operating Systems, Active Directory, and Virtualization Technology.

An ideal candidate for this position will have:
Bachelor of Science in an Information Technology field.
Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert - 2008 or higher.
Expert Level knowledge of Storage area network management.
Expert level knowledge of the Microsoft Windows Server operating systems.
Senior to Expert Level Datacenter management skills.
Senior to Expert Level knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.
Senior level knowledge of Microsoft's PowerShell scripting language.
