Provides patient revenue management support throughout the revenue cycle, to include but not limited to: billing and collections, cash management and payment posting, and charge capture.
Analyzes and performs efficient patient account and/or medical record activity research, clarifies account activity, identifies solutions and initiates appropriate course of action. Provides positive and efficient customer service requests and follows-up promptly and appropriately. Obtains payment commitments and ensures demographic data is accurate on patient accounts. Maintains accurate supporting documentation of patient accounts. Initiates and coordinates timely placement of delinquent accounts for outside agencies. Receives, sorts, and verifies daily mail receipts. Determines proper application of payments and adjustments. Research and resolve credit balance reports. Computes manual and electronic payer remittance data in a timely and accurate manner and on appropriate accounts. Identifies areas where system rules could enhance productivity and work with appropriate staff if any issues arise. Performs accurate record keeping and balancing procedures. Analyzes and monitors payer remittance, identifies inappropriate payer payments and adjustments completes research, and performs appropriate follow-up with payers or clearinghouse if needed. Performs and obtains payer financial coverage verification, authorization, pre-certification, service approvals and utilization requirements, ascertains accurate and timely payer determination and financial classification. Communicates and coordinates with all departments, medical offices, healthcare facilities and all other entities for patient services and information. Works with outside vendors regarding patient accounts as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
Experience: Experience preferred in a medical office setting preferred. Understanding of medical terminology and medical coding preferred.
