GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
Designs and fabricates metal parts and tools, and assists in the maintenance and repair of trucks and equipment by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
*Designs and fabricates tools and equipment; including flatbeds, trailers, and attachments for various equipment. Serves as primary fabricator for the shop and in the field.
*Performs routine inspections on trucks, trailers, and equipment as necessary.
*Keeps accurate record in the shop log of all repairs.
*Assists Mechanics, Shop Foreman and Shop Superintendent with general maintenance and repair(s) on trucks and equipment as necessary.
*Orders, organizes, and maintains inventory of welding supplies including but not limited to gases, filler metals, cutting tools and abrasives. Follows up with the Shop Foreman or Shop Superintendent to ensure all needed parts and/or supplies have been properly documented, ordered, and/or received.
*Remains at shop on designated late night until all crews have returned.
*Complies with and follows all safety regulations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two year college or technical school, or five years experience in diesel mechanics and/or welding/fabrication. Must possess excellent welding/fabrication skills.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Class A CDL with a good driving record; must be insurable by the Company's vehicle insurance. CPR/First Aid within one year of employment.
