Technician - Electrical - Electronics (Portland, OR)

TMS is seeking an electrical/mechanical technician to install, troubleshoot, service and repair electronics, automation and mechanical systems at customer sites in the Marine, Defense, and Industrial markets.

Technical Marine Service (TMS) is a growing engineering and manufacturing firm that designs and installs custom engineered solutions. Our projects include; marine propulsion controls and propulsion plant automation, cargo handling, ballast and tank level monitoring systems and consulting engineering. Installations involve customized electronics, software, PLC’s, HMI touch screens and SCADA. TMS executes a majority of these projects on a turn-key basis.


•Assemble, install, modify, test, and maintain electrical, electronic, mechanical equipment.
•Ability to read engineering drawings, bill of materials, wiring diagrams, assembly
prints, and schematics.
•Assemble and install electrical, electronic, mechanical components.
•Install finished assemblies or subassemblies.
•Performs the assembly, start up, and function test of equipment & systems.
•Troubleshoots control systems, makes necessary repairs and corrections.
•Tests and/or repairs various new and older products
•Ability to work independently using personal judgment to ensure quality, correct parts usage, and that proper and procedures are followed.
•Builds, repairs, and/or tests a variety of new and older products using standard
and/or non-standard tools, equipment, and knowledge.
•Responsible for completing various records keeping and documentation
•Skill working with mechanical and electrical hand tools
•Perform other work related task as required as assigned.
•Ability to lift 50 lbs.
•Effective interpersonal skills and team mentality
•Good organizational skills and flexibility
•Ability to follow through with assigned tasks beginning to end
•Calibrate and work with and on all aspects of Instrumentation & controls


oA.S. in Electronics/Electronics Technology OR
oEquivalent training received in the military OR
oEquivalent combination of education and experience in electrical panels / electronics
oIdeal candidate will have 1-5 years’ experience in Electronics, Automation, Electro-Mechanical systems and components
oKnowledge and experience with electrical equipment: 480/230 3ph, 110 & 24vdc controls, prints and schematics
oProficient knowledge of Microsoft programs, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
oAbility to work in a diverse work environment
oAbility to travel as necessary to assist with equipment installation, startup, and service
oPossess a valid driver’s license
oWillingness to travel
