Under general supervision, the Metering & Electronic Inspector C will perform a wide range of duties to help him or her to become a qualified Metering & Electronic Inspector B. Training will include operating, repair, maintenance, and testing of meters, regulators, odorizers, instrumentation/telemetry equipment, pressure gauges, and meter proving devices. Training also includes installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and calibrating smart pressure transmitters, transducers, RTD’s, Emerson ROC RTU’s, also field devices such as volumetric correctors (pressure, temperature), pressure monitoring instruments, and cellular communication equipment.
The selected candidate must be willing to live within the Yakima district boundaries while traveling approximately 50% of the time throughout CNG territories during the training process. The applicant will train until a position becomes vacant at which time they are required to move to the vacant area. The current areas include; Bellingham WA, Mt Vernon WA, Longview WA, Yakima WA, Tri Cities WA, Hermiston/Pendleton OR, and Bend OR. The wage scale for this position is currently $34.08 per hour and all benefits are very competitive within the industry and are established by collective bargaining agreement. The Metering/Electronics Inspector position has three classifications that progress from C to B to A upon satisfactorily passing written and mechanical aptitude testing. The current wage scale for the other classifications are as follows; Metering & Electronic Inspector B $36.83, Metering & Electronic Inspector A $40.03. It generally takes a minimum of 5 years to progress to the “A” level.
