A LAN/WAN Network administrator provides day to day monitoring, troubleshooting, hardware installation, and issue resolution. This position analyzes network performance, and recommends changes. A LAN/WAN administrator works under general supervision. It is fully expected for an individual in this role to handle complex issues and possess solid working knowledge of subject matter. An ideal candidate would provide leadership, coaching, and be able to communicate effectively to other IT groups.
Review daily activities related to Network
Hold vendor accountable for SLAs related to Network service (NOC)
Monitor daily activities/issues related to LAN (reports, outages)
Plan/coordinate network LAN outages, upgrades
Configure and maintain LA devices (routers, switches, VLANs, etc.)
Work with Enterprise Architecture to design network plans as needed
Provide leadership to 3-4 projects annually
Log actual time spent on projects
Provide level 2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
Design and test and inspect data communication systems
Perform network modeling, analysis and planning
Develop methods and tools to be used to test and implement new LAN/WAN technologies
Provide leadership for daily network operations activities (WAN and LAN)
Skills & Experience:
Education: BS/BA in computer science or related field, or experience sufficient to be able to perform the role
Experience: Requires a minimum of 5-7 years of related experience in LAN/WAN administration
Other: Requires understanding of network protocols, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to lead virtual meetings, and experience with CISCO technologies is a plus.
