Compass Care/Home Health and Hospice continues to be growing and supporting the communities desire to receive healthcare in their homes. This position is the first interaction the referral sources and public have with our programs. The role takes all incoming referrals, obtains orders and regulatory requirements to initiate care and communicates with the scheduler and clinical team the patient needs. This role if vital in ensuring all referrals are received and processed timely as well as in compliance with our regulatory requirements for timely admission and Medicare certified for the skilled service.
The Billing and Coding Specialist is responsible for accurate registration information, performing and obtaining payer financial coverage verification, service approvals, and utilization requirements and provides assistance in the areas of both Medical Billing and Coding. Performs document scanning of financial documents into the EMR.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Post high school education and training in ICD-9/ICD-10 and/or CPT coding required; Associate and/or Bachelor's degree in related field preferred. Education may be substituted depending on experience.
Experience: Experience preferred medical billing and/or coding in an outpatient setting.
Licenses/Certificates/Registration: CPC, CAA Preferred.
Level of Business Knowledge/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Medical terminology/Clerical/Customer Service required. Understanding of ICD 9, ICD 10 and CPT codes preferred.

Configurated Hours: Configuration 40 hour work week - Overtime accrues when working over 40 hours in a Sunday - Saturday work week
