The Machinist/CNC Programmer is responsible for programming, set up and operation of a computer numerical control (CNC) lathe and mill machines based on blueprint specifications.
•Plans machining utilizing work orders, blue prints, engineering drawings, specifications, interpreting dimensions and tolerances
•Programs machines by entering instructions and reference points; sets took registers, offsets, compensation and conditional switches; calculating requirements using basic math and geometry and trigonometry; proving part programs
•Sets up machines by installing and adjusting jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads
•Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position
•Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part and sample workpieces; adhering to standards
•Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming; replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
•Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
•Maintains equipment using preventative maintenance requirements
•Documents actions in production and quality logs
SKILLS AND EDUCATION
•5+ year experience
•Two-year technical degree in programming with experience in operation of CNC machinery
•Two years applicable experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
•While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift up to 25-100 pounds, stand, walk, talk, hear and sit.
•The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle and/or feel objects and use hands and arms to reach objects or materials.
•Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
•While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, and risk of electrical shock and vibration.
•The noise level in the production area is usually loud or the noise levels in most office areas are quiet.
