WSDOT is seeking a detail oriented, self-motivated accounting professional in the South Central Region Financial Services Office in Union Gap, WA. This position will ensure compliance and accountability of financial activities conducted by the region. The selected individual will independently perform activities concerning work order closures, sign shop billings and labor reporting. Note: This position includes an approved In-Training Plan, therefore, the successful candidate may be appointed at either the Fiscal Analyst 1 or the Fiscal Analyst 2 level depending upon qualifications. The salary levels for each are as follows:
Fiscal Analyst 1: $34,176.00 - $45,540.00
Fiscal Analyst 2: $37,476.00 - $50,292.00
This position will perform the following work:
•Perform review and analysis of financial data, identify discrepancies, research transactions and make corrections.
•Independently review and reconcile work orders that are ready for closure.
•Ensure that all expenditures are properly accounted for and properly categorized.
•Analyze, prepare, and submit work order closures to HQ for final closure.
•Independently review and verify the Labor Corrections Report against over/under and time sheets extracted from ILINX each pay period.
•Assist with archiving financial records.
•Receive, verify and correct time sheets as needed and review payroll reports.
•May be required to work extra hours to meet deadlines.
•Other duties as assigned.
An ideal candidate for this position will have:
•High School Diploma or equivalent.
•18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing or budgeting AND two years of relevant professional experience is preferred.
•Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Cash Receipt rules, and purchasing and travel regulations.
•Experience in analyzing and reconciling financial data, expenditure reporting, timekeeping and labor reporting.
•Ability to read, understand, interpret and apply rules, regulations and procedures.
•Working knowledge of Microsoft software programs.
•Ability to communicate effectively to a large internal and external customer base.
•Valid driver's license
This position is covered by a union shop provision. Therefore, as a condition of employment, candidates who are appointed are required to become members of the WFSE, or arrange to pay to that union a fee equivalent to its regular monthly dues. The union shop provision shall be effective on the first day of the month following the employee's initial 30 days in this classification.
