Description of Position:

The Maintenance Worker/HVAC Technician will perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks related primarily to HVAC but will assist in other maintenance areas as needed. Employees in this class are responsible for the efficient functioning of the districts heating and ventilation systems. The employee will independently troubleshoot heating, ventilation, or air-conditioning problems recommend parts needed and work procedures to maintain efficient functions of the HVAC and energy management control systems within the school district.
Essential Functions:

This is the list of essential job functions and is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Depending upon the individual assignment, the employee may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:
 Install modify troubleshoot tests and repair all district heating, ventilation and air-conditioning equipment and energy management control systems
 Layout, fabricate and install mechanical, pneumatic, electrical and electronic temperature controls for heating and ventilating system and components
 Inspect air-conditioning and refrigeration units for evidence of refrigerant leaks or mechanical damage
 Maintain operate and repair electrical, mechanical and structural systems for all district facilities
 May perform duties related to carpentry masonry, painting, plastering, plumbing, steam fitting, mechanical or electrical work, machinist trades etc.
 Order and stock temperature controls, valves, and related parts
 Keep all HVAC systems in a safe and servable condition and operating in compliance with state and local codes
 Operate, maintain and repair power tools as equipment used to perform essential duties
 Operate automotive equipment to transport material and supplies
 Report misuse or abuse of facilities and equipment to the Facility Supervisor
 Follow district policies and procedures and directions from the Facilty Supervisor
 Coordinate major repairs or additions to heating, air conditioning and ventilating equipment with the Facility Supervisor
 Possess basic tools needed for position
 Responds to district emergencies after hours and/or on weekends
 Ability to prioritize electronic work orders, complete ordering, requisitions, estimates repairs then finalize the work orders online
 Ability to perform heavy outside work in all types of weather
 Ability to work independently
 Ability to work well with others
 Ability to practice ethical and professional standards of conduct, including the requirements of confidentiality
 In-district applicants must be able to report to this position within 5 days of being hired
Qualifications Required:
 Valid Washington State Driver’s License
 Ability to pass Federal/State criminal history background check
 HVAC Certification (or able to obtain certification)
 Complete Safe Schools Training within 60 days of hire
Days/Hours Worked Per Week: 8.0 hours per day, 5 days per week

Days Worked Per Year: 260 days per year
Wage Rate: $28.63-$33.05 Per PSE Collective Bargaining Agreement
Benefits: Per PSE Collective Bargaining Agreement
Probationary Period: Per PSE Agreement - Up to 60 working days
