Stephens and Sons Construction has been in business for over 40 years as a commercial general contractor. Our focus is on larger commercial projects within the Central Washington market.
We are looking for an experienced construction accounting manager for our growing company. This position is responsible for directing the day-to-day operations of the accounting and finance function within the organization to ensure transactional accuracy, consistency and timeliness for financial reporting, compliance and decision-marking purposes.
The ideal person would have 3+ years of construction accounting experience. Candidate must have immense attention to detail with strong analytical and problem solving expertise and experience. We are looking for an experienced professional with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, ability to work in a fast-paced team oriented environment, manage well through ambiguity and complexity, and tenacious determination to roll-up their sleeves and dive into pressing issues.
•Maintain all accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, job costing, monthly general ledger closings, preparation of appropriate monthly accruals, and preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
•Analyze, monitor, and manage daily cash flow activity and prepare cash flow projections.
•Ensure supplier invoices are properly coded, timely approved, and submitted for payment.
•Monitor and manage the accounts payable process.
•Prepare all customer billings and manage timely collection efforts. Familiarity with AIA documents preferred.
•Prepare all payroll, certified payroll, quarterly payroll tax reporting, annual 1099 and W-2s.
•Review time sheets for proper job costing and coding.
•Maintain project related records, including contracts, change orders and billings.
•Continuously monitor profitability of jobs and projects and investigate profitability issues that may arise.
•Analyze and maintain company’s insurance policies.
•Comply with all bonding requirements and compliance.
•Provide human resource functions.
•Maintain fixed asset systems including entering equipment and vehicle purchases and recording depreciation expense.
•Assist in the creation of annual budgets and budget-to-actual analysis.
•Compliance reporting for all governmental agencies.
•Maintain and develop proper internal controls.
•Develop key metrics and reporting requirements for management.
•Work with external accounting for financial statement reviews and tax preparation.
•Communicate effectively, both written and oral.
•Perform additional duties as directed by management.
•College degree preferred.
•3+ years of construction accounting experience.
•Strong understanding of job costing systems and percentage-of-completion accounting.
•Extremely detail oriented with exceptional analytical and critical thinking abilities.
•Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
•High proficiency and understanding of Quickbooks accounting software.
