Position is responsible for processing the information needed to generate billings for services provided by the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic.
Position is responsible for processing the information needed to generate billings for services provided by the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic. The Billing Clerk/Coder abstracts clinical information from a variety of medical records, charts and documents and assigns appropriate ICD-9 /ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes to patient records according to established procedures. Works with coding databases and confirms DRG assignments.
Education: High School Diploma or GED. Graduate of a medical coding program preferred.
Experience: Six (6) - twelve (12) months experience in coding/billing or medical. Experience with encoding software or EMR.
Licenses/Certificates/Registration: CPC or CCS certified is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required: Experience in and familiarity with billing coding; ability to perform data entry, bilingual in English/Spanish preferred, experience in customer service preferred, experience in accounts receivable duties is preferred.
