Billing and Collections Specialist - Patient Accounts & Other
Billing/Collection Related Support

The Billing and Collections Specialist – Patient Accounts and Other Billing/Collection Related Support works in support of the RPM Rehab clinics and is responsible for collecting all accounts for services rendered, primarily from patients, not paid as the result of the initial billing process. This person also provides other billing/collection related support as necessary. This position plays a key role in interaction with payers as well as key clinic administrative and management staff.

•High school education; Bachelor’s Degree in business or equivalent preferred;
•Knowledge of and/or experience with accounts receivable, accounts payable, insurance billing, and collections;
•Proficient in a variety of Electronic Medical Record systems (EMR) as well as personal computer programs; i.e., Excel, Word, Power Point
•Basic accounting and billing/collection experience desirable
•Organizational skills
•Excellent oral and written skills;
•Excellent interpersonal skills;
•Ability to prioritize and process multiple tasks;
•Understanding of customer service issues;
•Able to problem solve;
•Motivated self-learner

This position will typically interact with adults of all ages.

•Strength: Work is generally light to medium
•Manual Dexterity: Required to perform simple motor skills such as standing, walking, writing, and use of various types of office equipment
•Coordination: Required to perform gross body coordination such as walking, stooping, standing while performing tasks, carrying, and lifting objects
•Mobility: Required to walk, stand, and sit for long periods of time
•Visual Discrimination: Required to see objects to allow reading of documents and computer screens
•Hearing: Required to hear normal sounds with some background noise as in answering the phone, intercom, and hearing alarm systems

•Required to concentrate on fine details with frequent interruptions
•Demonstrates good judgment and safety while on the job
•Requires a high degree of self-confidence
•Must be a conscientious self-starter

•Some potential for electrical shock from equipment.

Occasional travel may be required. Must be able to provide own transportation for any local travel.

Category C: No anticipation of exposure.

•Daily, review accounts receivable reports to identify high priority accounts to be worked;
•Contact patients to make arrangements for payment of outstanding account balances; may also be asked to contact third party payers for payment.
•Promptly communicate to Collections Manager and/or Billing Specialist need for resolution and re-billing of denied or rejected paper and electronic claims and, if applicable, the need for insurance appeals;
•Through consultation with the Collections Manager, develop payment plans that include either arrangements to pay outstanding balances over time or discounted agreements;
•Document negotiated plans and arrangements;
•Make recommendations to the Collections Manager for accounts that should be referred to the Company’s outside Collections Agency;
•May prepare, review and send updated patient statements;
•Performs daily back-ups on office computer system as instructed;
•Maintain adherence to and compliance with all HIPPA guidelines and regulations;
•Conduct self in accordance with the RPM Employee Handbook and Policies and Procedures
•Maintain communication with the home office of RPM, LLC. for current procedures; and
•Perform other billing and collections tasks as assigned or required for the efficient operation of the Billing and Collections Department.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $12.50 to $16.00 /hour
