Compass Care/Home Health and Hospice continues to be growing and supporting the community's desire to receive healthcare in their homes. This position is the first interaction the referral sources and public have with our programs. The role takes all incoming referrals, obtains orders and regulatory requirements to initiate care, and communicates patient needs with the scheduler and clinical team. This role is vital in ensuring that all referrals are received and processed timely, as well ensuring that referrals are in compliance with our regulatory requirements for timely admission and Medicare certified for the skilled service.
The Pre-Billing Representative is responsible for performing and obtaining payer financial coverage verification, service approvals and utilization requirements within the Home Health and Hospice department. Reviews and ensures accurate account registration information. Requests and obtains payer specific documents required for billing.Performs effective financial counseling, appropriate identification of financial resources and efficient payment arrangements. Ascertains accurate and timely payer determination and financial classification. Coordinates and refers coverage information to other service departments of the hospital. Maintains competency on all computer systems. Performs and obtains payer financial coverage verification, service approvals and utilization requirements; Ascertains accurate and timely payer determination and financial classification Provides knowledgeable, professional communication with all contacts. Answers the telephone according to department standards and direct calls appropriately.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or Equivalent required.
Experience: Previous experience in medical billing or payer coverage preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Level of Business Knowledge/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Medical terminology/Clerical/excellent Customer Service required.
