Job Title: Safety Intern

1.Currently pursuing a degree or certificate in occupational safety and health. Must have completed at least two years of higher education study or 48 equivalent credit hours.
2.High degree of organizational skill and problem-solving ability; specifically, the ability to work as self-starter - especially as it relates to calling on resources.
3.Resourcefulness in finding information and answers from within and outside the company without prompting or micromanagement; a “consummate” self-starter.
4.Respect for details; ability to execute accurately at a high level without excess supervision.
5.Ability to prioritize/execute to achieve desired company and project goals with prudence and sense of urgency.
6.Articulate communication skills – verbal, pictorial and numerical.
7.Desire to learn and grow professionally.
8.General computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

14.Perform all other duties as assigned by department head and/or designee.
Safety Intern will work with Safety Officer to minimize risk of job-related accidents. Responsibilities to include monitoring operations, conducting safety audits, and examining safety programs for L&I compliance. Safety Intern will help develop safety trainings, reporting tools, and metrics for the workplace.
1.Maintain sanitary and safe work environment and follow safety requirements.
2.Actively participate on company’s Safety Committee, and conduct safety audits.
3.Ensure that company safety policies as well as federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations are observed.
4.Examine Safety programs, assist with updating Safety & Health programs, policies, and procedures to conform with WA L&I standards and specifications.
5.Draft, Edit, and contribute to future EHS newsletter.
6.Assist in development of new training materials.
7.Must have a complete understanding of company’s policies, SOPs, QPs, EPs, HACCP and cGMP that pertain to their department to ensure quality, safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
8.Must adhere to all company policies.
9.Follow all SOPs in a given area.
10.Perform all other duties as assigned by Manager and/or designee.
