The Opportunity
The WSDOT Information Technology Division Enterprise Server Support (ESS) team is currently seeking an IT Systems Administration Journey. This In-Training position can be filled at the Entry or Journey level, depending on qualifications. This position is the Enterprise Senior technician for technical system administration of core, mission-critical, agency-wide Collaboration Services server infrastructure for internal and public-facing corporate and Payment Card Industry (PCI) environments. This position applies advanced technical knowledge to independently administer and consult on enterprise server infrastructure.

Note: This position has an in-training plan that can be filled at either the IT System Administration Entry level or the Journey level. The salaries for each position are:

IT System Administration Entry- $63,912 - $85,992 annually, depending on qualifications.
IT System Administration Journey- $77,544 - $104,292 annually, depending on qualifications.

What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, IT Systems Administration will:

Serve as the primary system administrator of enterprise-wide secure file transfer (SFTP) environment used by agency staff, external partners, other agencies, and the public to securely transfer sensitive information.
Provide Application Delivery and Remote Access Services for Citrix XenApp Administration
Installs, configures, and maintains hardware and software required to support enterprise SFTP and Citrix XenApp infrastructure.
Monitor operational security risk levels, applying security updates/patches, and mitigating vulnerabilities to SFTP and Citrix environment.
Monitor and review event logs and server performance (capacity utilization, system efficiency, failure indicators, etc.) to analyze trends, identify problems proactively, and resolve issues.
Use SFTP administrative consoles and SFTP clients to create, test and troubleshoot secure file transfer sites.
Develop and provide training material and best practice instructions for enterprise class secure file transfer services to internal and external customers.
Provide Digital SSL Certificate Administration and Webmaster Support
Administers and supports Microsoft SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and Azure.

Qualifications
To be considered at the Entry level, the following are required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related Field. Additional full-time Information Technology work/experience can be substituted for college at a ratio of 1:1, experience: education years.
Three (3) years of experience supporting the operation of enterprise-level server infrastructure including Windows Operating Systems
Working knowledge and experience with at least 3 of the 6 specialty areas: SFTP, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Azure, Citrix, Vendor Management/purchasing of IT goods and services.

To be considered at the Journey level, the following are required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related Field. Additional full-time Information Technology work/experience can be substituted for college at a ratio of 1:1, experience: education years.
Four (4) years of experience supporting the operation of enterprise-level SFTP services.
Three (3) years of experience supporting the operation of enterprise-level Microsoft Office 365 products and/or Microsoft Azure.
Three (3) years of experience supporting the operation of enterprise-level Citrix XenApp secure remote access services.

Important Notes
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, this position will be remote in a telework capacity full-time. Once the restrictions are lifted, WSDOT supports a flexible work schedule with partial telework opportunities, depending on business needs and prior supervisor approval.
