Programing CNC Machinist

We are currently seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to contribute to the overall success of the company.
The Programming CNC Machinist leads the set-up, programming, and operation of a variety of CNC machine tools (and additional tools as required) to fabricate, modify, or repair precision parts, applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, metrology, and machining procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the CNC Machine Shop Manager the Programing CNC Machinist will:
•Programming of CNC machine tools [such as lathes, milling machines] for the purposes of manufacturing complex machine parts to specifications.
•Test and modify existing parts programs for engineering changes or program improvements including MASTERCAM programming.
•Read and comprehend detailed blueprints and other similar authorized drawings and documents
•Set-up, adjust, and operate both specialized and basic machine tools used to perform precision machining operations
•Manufacture, select, and install fixtures, part holding, and tooling for the machining of parts as necessary
•Research and select suppliers and consultants required for in-house fabrication startup. Outsource services required for machine installations.
•Estimate and quote material costs, machine run time, and programming labor required for proposals
•Design, build, and implement fabrication processes, material prep processes, fabrication of jigs/fixtures, and finishing processes
•Perform quality control, inspection and testing of machined parts using Coordinate Measurement Systems (Romer Arms, Laser Trackers, etc.)
•Confirm conformance of finished work to specifications, using measuring instruments
•Perform some simple machine preventative maintenance functions, update preventative maintenance schedules as needed, and keep machines clean
•Develop solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems to ensure organizational objectives and deadlines are met
•Develop and monitor department documentation, including operational instructions and/or standard procedures
•Support continuous improvement of products and processes
•Troubleshoot problems with products or equipment during production
•Operate production equipment and tools in accordance with work instructions, safety procedures and training
•Prepare packaging and documentation for finished products.
•Create and maintain production related documents, such as work instructions, quality forms, or inspection checklists
•Maintain a neat and organized workspace and facility
•Attends recommended training courses.
•Works with Purchasing to maintain inventory of materials and parts needed to complete production.
•Develops procedures and work instructions for the technical work performed in the area of responsibility.
•Maintains an understanding of the current status of all project deliverables and time lines.
•Completes training on relevant quality procedures and understands his/her contribution to the achievement of company quality objectives.
•Other duties as assigned.
•Minimum five (5) years’ experience machining a variety of material: aluminum, plastic, carbon fiber, steel.
•Minimum one (1) years’ experience programming CNC machines from models and/or 2-D technical drawings
•High level of proficiency with CAD software systems (SolidWorks preferred).
•High level of proficiency with MASTERCAM, including programming and operation
•Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5M and/or Y14.41
•Moderate proficiency with Coordinate Measurement Systems, Polyworks preferred
•Understanding of machining production processes and quality requirements
•Ability to perform work wearing all required personal protective equipment
•Physical activities can include standing, repetitive motion, walking, lifting, pushing or carrying heavy objects
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
•Competent writing, organizational, and communication skills
•Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Metrology, Industrial or Aerospace Engineering
•Three (3) years’ experience programming CNC machines from models and/or 2-D technical drawings
•Mazak CNC Mill and/or Lathe operation and programming experience
