The O&M Fuel Tech I assists in the safe and efficient operation of the power plant and supporting equipment and systems including but not limited to, turbine-generators, boilers, pumps, fuel unloading and handling, water treating systems, and chemical equipment. The O&M Fuel Tech I operates the fork truck, front-end loader, dozer, and other related equipment wiped. Maintain high standards of safety and housekeeping, including keeping all equipment wiped down and floors and surrounding areas clear. Assumes responsibilities and duties of Plant Operator when directed.
Assist in start-up, shut down- and normal operations of power plant systems.
Operate major auxiliary apparatus such as: air compressors; circulating water systems; boiler feed water treatment system; waste water systems; generator cooling system; boiler feed water and condensate system; and locally controlled electrical and mechanical equipment.
Operate fork truck, front-end loader, dozer, and other related equipment.
Maintain high standards of safety and housekeeping, including keeping all equipment wiped down and floors and surrounding areas clear.
Report any abnormal or irregular conditions that develop during the progress of the work and take corrective measures within the scope of operating instructions.
Assist maintenance personnel during maintenance periods as directed.
Complete other task as required by the O&M Tech II or the O&M Manager.
Scope Of Responsibility
The O&M Fuel Tech I operates from established and well-known procedures under moderate supervision. The O&M Fuel Tech I encounters recurring work situations of moderate complexity. Decisions are made within prescribed operating and casualty procedures and guidelines.
The O&M Fuel Tech I must perform work in a safe manner resulting in no accidents, in compliance with all environmental permits at all times. The O&M Fuel Tech I must effectively communicate information to supervision and fellow plant personnel, relative to the condition of the plant equipment and performance, and provide suggestions for plant improvements.

The O&M Fuel Tech I reports to the O&M Manager and periodically receive work direction from the O&M Tech II.
Education and Experience An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
High School diploma or equivalent level of work experience.
Successful completion of applicable Pre-Employment test battery.
Successful completion of applicable Pre-Employment drug testing and formal background checks.
Must be able to perform the physical demands of the assigned position.
Must possess solid level of computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
At least three years of related work experience.
Possess a valid state-issued driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.
Must be cooperative with those he/she contacts in this work and have the ability to work without direct supervision.
Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery.
Work within and insure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures.
Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound.
Basic data entry/computer skills
Work as a team. Must be able to pool our knowledge and energy to work in tandem to completely understand and productively respond to all of the business challenges.
Work Environment Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection and other equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties. Work with hazardous materials may be required.
Requires working 12 hour shifts with weekend and holiday work as required by schedules, workload and plant conditions. On call status (day and night) may be required.
