Job Summary:
The position of Ditchrider/Canal Maintenance(Ride #65) is currently open in the RoyalWatermaster section. This full-time, year-round position is responsible for the timely delivery and regulation of irrigation water to water-users on an assigned route and will also perform canal maintenance tasks as assigned.

Position Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED or comparable education required
All positions within the District require a valid Washington State driver’s license with insurable MVR (Motor Vehicle Record), negative pre-employment drug test and extensive background investigation
Class A CDL License with Hazardous Material & Tanker endorsement or ability to obtain such within 270calendardays of employment. Subject to monthly FMSCA random drug testing.
Public Pesticide License w/ Right-of-Way & Aquatic Irrigation endorsements or ability to obtain such within 270calendardays of employment.

Position Requirements:
Must be available to work Monday-Saturday during the water season(March-October)
Must reside or be willing to relocate to within 20miles of any edge of the ditchride(roughlyEast of RoyalCity to Crab Creek (halfway to Othello) and between Rd 13 and SR 26)Desirable Skills & Abilities:Ability to develop good relationships with the public as well as co-workers
Basic working knowledge of carpentry/construction principles, and of water systems
Ability to operate tools and heavy equipmentAbility to keep accurate records

Compensation: Bargaining wage schedule Group 1 (Step 1 -$21.86 per hour);medical/dental/vision insurance, basic life, AD&D,and long-term disability insurance, paid holidays, paid annual and sick leave, WA State Public Employees Retirement System (PERS),and deferred compensation match
